Captain Byakuya Kimura was the leader of an elite squad who worked for the Akai Tora. He had fought under the banner of Shogun Hiroshi Takamoto in Northern Yamato since the Cataclysm. His squad was sent to assassinate Dreadlord Leraje Thanadar of the Northern Horde in 1016 AE. However, the meeting with Leraje turned out to be a trap, and Leraje single-handedly slaughtered Kimura and all but one of his men. Kimura was succeeded by his second-in-command, Mamoru Uematsu, who had been the sole survivor of the massacre.
