Alain Silverbranch was a roguish, womanizing asshole who was one of the Silverbranch Brothers. His specialties were daggers, lockpicking, cryptography, and avoiding paternity suits. People really liked him for some reason, though. He had friends in high places and low. Leon Alcibiates actually fell in love with him, because...Leon's not really smart about love. One person who didn't like Alain was Queen Adevia of Alenia, who had him killed. This made a lot of people mad and caused Leon to use bad words.
Alain's spirit ended up in the body of Réin Aurelac in the Third Age, but before he could aid the Princess and be reunited with his brothers who had ended up in the bodies of Réin's brothers, Réin was poisoned by Martin Struan, thus banishing Alain to the Land of the Dead with her. Alain later warned Despard Silverbranch of the dangers of attempting to take over the dying body of Sumrah Brown during the First Battle of Vulpengaard Keep before disappearing back into the mists.
